Departmental Union Representatives

A union presence in the workplace ensures that Houston city workers have access to resources – representation, information, mentoring, etc. – as needed and when needed.

Departmental Union Representatives, or DURs work in partnership with HOPE organizers to keep HOPE members informed and protected. DURs are well versed in city policies. They help educate city workers about their rights and their options for addressing workplace issues.  Trained in dispute resolution and labor management relations, DURs provide representation at grievance and ECRP (Employee Concern Resolution Program) hearings at no cost to HOPE members.
